Your customers use a range of devices to view your website. Our responsive website design ensures your website performs well on widescreens, desktops, laptops, tablets & smartphones!
This is particularly important if your target demographic is more likely to be browsing using smartphones in preference to desktop devices.
We will make sure that all the important elements of your website display seamlessly across all devices. We may also recommend that some items are removed on smartphones to ensure your website loads quickly even when users have a slow mobile-internet connection.
Responsive Website Design Our 5-Step Process
Step 1 – Initial Consultation
We work with you to establish the main goals of your website. We listen to your ideas and suggest features which will enable you to achieve your goals. We will discuss branding and colour schemes and look at any websites which inspire you. Together we will create an initial “blueprint” for your website.
Step 2 – Design Mockup
We will produce an initial design mock-up of your new website. This will generally be a graphical representation of your home-page and internal pages. We will include examples of the way your website will display on smaller screens.
Step 3 – Website Build
Once you have agreed the design we will start to build your website. This will generally be on one of our development servers so that we can share progress updates with you at key production stages.
Step 4 – Quality Control
We will go through each page of your website to make sure everything is in order. We test all functionality included with your build whether it be contact-forms, e-commerce or bespoke functionality. We give you access to the back-end of your CMS and provide any training necessary.
Step 5 – Go Live!
When you are happy with your new website we will launch. This usually means pushing the website from our development servers to a “live” environment. This process will vary depending on your hosting environment.
The Technical Bits – Technology Used
All our websites are built using the world’s most popular CMS, WordPress. Once your website has been completed, you will get immediate access to a “dashboard” area where you can easily modify the text and images of each of your pages. We can provide training if required and there are a number of training resources online.
We use the Genesis Framework to build your design. This can either be a totally bespoke design created from scratch, or we can modify any commercially available Genesis themes.
If you require additional functionality we always try to utilise existing WordPress plugins. Examples of this would be for e-commerce, memberships, image sliders/galleries etc. We can also supply bespoke plugins for some functionality.
Responsive Website Design Prices
The question we get most often is “how much do websites cost?”. Whilst we understand the need for clients to get an idea of costs, it is simply impossible to post website prices here as there are so many variables. Typical factors that can affect costs are:
- Do you want us to design something completely from scratch?
- Would you prefer us to modify a commercial Genesis theme?
- Will you supply your own text for your website?
- Do you need us to write the text for your website?
- Would you like to make use of a professional copywriter?
Images To Use
- Will you supply images?
- Do you want us to source stock photography?
- Do you want to use a professional photographer?
- Do you need standard functionality including a CMS to manage pages and blog posts.
- Do you need extra functionality like bookings, membership, e-commerce etc.
As a general rule our 5-step responsive website design process starts from around £2000.
